There's a New Gmail Phishing Scam Going Around

There's a fresh crop of Gmail phishing attacks whose emails look as legitimate as official Gmail emails from Google. The emails originate from either no-reply@google.com or no-reply@accounts.google.com and even clear security checks conducted by Google itself (e.g., DKIM), so they look legitimate.

The threat usually states the police or other law enforcement officials have requested access or commanded you to act immediately on your account. The link leads you to a false Google support page which looks official—though it isn't. There, you're asked to log in and provide your credentials straight to the attackers.

???? How This Scam Works

The e-mail mimics real-life Google alerts in both their formatting and official-sounding vocabulary.

It bypasses Gmail's spam filtering via authenticated headers.

The fraudulent link leads a victim to a crafted Google Sites login screen.

The victims are deceived into divulging their Google credentials.

How Can I Protect Myself

Be on your guard: Avoid clicking on unfamiliar links, especially from unsolicited mailings.

Enter accounts.google.com directly into your web browser to log in to your Google account.

Enable 2-Step Verification (2FA): This adds a second level of security.

Report phishing: If you think an email is suspicious, immediately use Gmail's "Report phishing" feature.

What's Being Said About Google

Google knows about the issue and is working on improving detection. Until now, however, since the attack employs validated domains and mimics true content so well, it's hard to be detected—even by Gmail filters. User awareness then becomes crucial in this regard.

✅ Final Thoughts This is a very realistic and advanced phishing attempt. Take a moment and review your emails carefully, avoid clicking on unfamiliar links, and do not give out your logins either. Your safety on the web starts from being educated. Be smart, be safe. ????
